an indepth story that's intensely enjoyable

This story had me hooked from the first chapter. This suspenseful and exciting story had me guessing and running alongside the main character, engaged in an unimaginable journey. Pohler’s seamless writing and engaging storyline make it very easy to immerse yourself in this atypical story. She presents a well-developed history and mythology of the island that the characters find themselves on. It all combines into an in-depth story that’s intensely enjoyable while making you think.
This novel was spooky and eerily entertaining. Pohler’s phenomenal descriptions of the natural world leave you breathless while her fantastically imaginative storytelling keep you hooked. The story’s smooth forward flow pulls you in. The symbolism behind various aspects of the story adds an extra layer to the tale. Not only is this story suspenseful and grippingly entertaining, it also has a huge psychological impact on the reader. It opens your eyes to the possibilities and realities around you. I repeatedly asked myself if the end justified the means. I found myself laughing regularly. Even when events seem a bit over the top it’s still easy to see and feel the real possibility behind it. Pohler also had me crying towards the end of the story. I will warn you, however, that this novel picks right up where the last left off. As a reader you’d be missing a great deal by not reading the first novel in the series first. And it’s worth the read.
I really enjoyed the gradual character development, as opposed to a large information dump. You get to know the characters well and personally without feeling like you’ve read their biography. It all seems so natural. You also get to know the main character even more closely because you are on a journey of self-discovery with her. I really appreciate how the main character grows and an individual. Pohler really lets you get inside her head. You see her weighing the pros and cons, battling her demons, and becoming a more rounded and understanding individual (even if I may not always agree with her decisions). The supporting cast is so varied that there is someone for everyone to connect with, and for everyone to throw a bucket of water at. Everyone was uniquely yet fully developed to create a well rounded cast.
My overall thoughts? Oh. My. Gods. Could you just imagine?

A Roller Coaster ride of wonder in the Purgatorioum

Amazing to take a trip to unknown places. Going through the trauma Daphne does. Unsure of who you can trust or not.
Definitely kept me guessing and wanting to know what would happen next. This story had me in a roller coaster of emotions and worries. I was constantly in edge thinking what will happen? Is this real or part of the therapy. Eva did a wonderful job keeping me on my toes and making my mind work on overdrive. So many references from studies I myself have looked into. I loved. Excited to see what Dr. Gray will do next and where Daphne is going.
Definitely worth reading and experiencing something new and challenging. :)
Ok. Book one hooked, lined and reeled me in. I was curious to know what exactly was going on. Was Dr. gray good or bad? I was left with so many questions?
Yet know I still have a few, and wow so not what I was expecting. If your looking for a book that makes you ask who? What? And why? This story is great. I was on edge and having so many scenarios crossing my mind. So many possibilities, questions, and most of all mixed emotions. The more I read the more I was in awe with Dr. Gray and Daphne's mixed emotions. Dang if I wasn't all over the place.
It was very dramatic, suspenseful, and just sad at times. Made feel like I was right there dealing with each game and just not happy with the outcomes. Can a game so dangerous really be worth the outcome? Is despero right, and Calaban meant to stay a slave? If your curious like me you will want to read this book and hope for a book three. Wow is the state I am in right now.
Book three was a great end to the series. It helped tie up questions I had. I enjoyed how it tied in with the other books, and still had my in awe and amazed at what the next scene would bring. This series was intense from the start and continued it. Doctor Gray will continue to have you wondering and having jaw drop moment. The ending was worth the roller coaster ride. Along the way the series also helped me understand the characters more and how real situations like the ones Daphne and Cam faced. I was rooting for Both to get the ending they deserved and Eva didn't disappoint. I love the way she weaves her stories, and allows you to put the pieces together to get the "ahhh, now it makes senses moment."
I loved the conclusion, and I am sad to see this series over. It definitely opened the doors to the imagination and helped see the pictures the author described. Looking forward to more intricate and detailed stories that will lead us down a journey of questions and amazement.

Suspenseful Series with lots of twists and turns

This box set included all 3 books in the Purgatorium Series by Eva Pohler.
In The Purgatorium, Daphne experiences a strange technique to help her overcome her depression.
In Gray's Domain, Daphne helps Dr. Gray use her unusual therapy techniques on Daphne's family & boyfriend.
In The Calibans, Daphne tries to rescue the other calibans from Dr. Gray's unusual therapy techniques but chaos ensues when the ATF shows up during a dangerous exercise.
These books are very well written and each plot has lots of twists and turns. This series is a roller coaster ride of emotions and intense moments.
These books deal with mental health issues and alternative therapy techniques and might not be right for everyone, but I really enjoyed them.
