I purchase a lot through Amazon and I am hardly ever inclined to leave a review - but I would like to forewarn any fellows who are considering this book and see all these fantastic 5 star reviews.
They persuaded me enough to make the purchase, but I regret it. My money would have been much better spent buying some other advertising book. I took a chance, and paid for it. The text is enlarged to what seems like a 20 pt font or some kids book. The few illustrations that appear throughout are laughable (think 5 mins in MS word). I would easily overlook these points, but what can not be overlooked at the simple/mindless marketing 'ideas' that are described in this book. A chapter dedicated to why restaurants should have a website? Really?! If you don't already know that you need a website in today's marketplace, then by all means, grab this book and read all about why it is necessary. However, if you want to take a notch beyond - like how to promote your website, social media, etc. look somewhere else. This book was published in 2009 the links are junk, the few that do work are simply affiliate links, where the author is obviously hard up for money (why would you place spammy affiliate links in your book sir?). Their is a decent chapter about bartering with coupons, but that's about it. However, I'm sure there are a ton of great articles online about this.
The previous 5 reviewers are either (1) super newbs at anything marketing related, or (2)good pals with the author who were generous enough to help him out and take advantage of folks like myself looking for some great restaurant marketing ideas. Please don't waste your time or hard earned money.

Jose teaches different "out-of-the-box" marketing strategies to generate more sales and increase bottom line profits.
My favorite part is the "bartering". This is very powerful strategy that only 1 in 300 restaurants are using.

This is a must read book for any restaurant owner whether you are just starting out or an old hand. This book is literally worth thousands of dollars for those restaurateurs who are prepared to methodically read this book, do the homework and apply the strategies. This is pure gold.
I have read many restaurant and general marketing books and this would have to be one of the best because of its simple, easy to understand style, with excellent summaries and "homework" for you to take away and immediately apply in your business.
Marketing is all about developing a system and here it is laid out for you in 194 easy to read pages. I consult to restaurants in Sydney, Australia and my clients literally pay thousands of dollars for this information.
Jose Riesco not only shows you how to set the base for a successful business based on building caring relationships, he shows you how to purchase services for your restaurant at way below cost so everyone wins, but how to increase customer numbers without wasting heaps on advertising using powerful targeted growth strategies that are proven to work, he includes ways to increase the amount customers spend with you and how to get your customers to return and dine more often.
While this book focuses on restaurants all the principles used in this book could be taken and transposed into almost any small business and used with success.
This is a gem and I highly recommend it.
