Slightly outdated but good for the price

This is a pretty okay book to have in your power supply design library. Yeah it's outdated a bit, but the second edition is not too bad, especially considering the low price of used copies. The second edition has a section on mag-amps, which was a pleasant surprise.

Books on Switching converter technology tend to be very dense from the beginning, overwhelming the reader with equations before even understanding topologies. This books bridges the gap as it does just that, start slowly and methodically explaining the basics and developing the analysis in that fashion. It is a great way to start understanding deeply before you break out the equations and attempt your first prototype.

About the Author
Joan Manley is Professor Emeritus from the University of Texas at El Paso. During her 33 years as a faculty member, she gave over 100 workshops and conference presentations and authored 50 journal articles. She was a trainer and tester of the Oral Proficiency Interview, which led to the current emphasis on skill building and proficiency as exemplified in teaching programs such as HORIZONS.

Stuart Smith received her degrees and her first training and experience in teaching at the University of Texas at Austin. She has been teaching at Austin Community College since 1981 and has been authoring foreign language textbook and textbook materials since 1986.

John McMinn is Professor of French and Spanish at Austin Community College, where he has taught since 1986. After doing graduate studies in Romance Linguistics at The University of Texas at Austin, he also worked as an editor of high school and college-level language books. In addition to HORIZONS, he is coauthor of two Spanish textbooks.

Marc Andre Prevost received his degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. He taught seven years at The University of Texas at Austin and has been a professor at Austin Community College since 1993. He has coauthored foreign language textbooks since 1986.

Book was missing code for online piece

It is good to have this book available as a re-sell, but for this French class at Edmonds Community College, there is an online component which requires a book key, and that key was not provided as part of this sale.

Since the book key and the materials it unlocks are part of the homework requirements for the class, it would have been good to have Amazon state that clearly in the ad for this book, so that students could make the choice with all information available.

Alternatively, if a book key could be provided (perhaps in collaboration with Quia Books) even if the price is higher, that would be an acceptable choice too.

I would like to see Amazon do their due diligence for these.

This is a nice way of learning and practicing a language, though some of the instructions seem slightly vague. Follows the book well

The book provides an international review of periphyton ecology, exploitation and management. The ecology part focuses on periphyton structure and function in natural systems. The exploitation part covers its nutritive qualities and utilization by organisms, particularly in aquaculture. The final part considers the use of periphyton for increasing aquatic production and its effects on water quality and animal health in culture systems.
