Cher of the 70s mostly
By Ward J. Lamb
The book is a Cher fan dream. It concentrates on the 70s period and the notorious Cher show in depth. There are some nice photos.
Their are a few glaring errors ,such as "Baby don't go " was released on Atco records..Reprise...!
The cover is gorgeous,,wish it was in hard cover.
Extensive video-ography of her tv shows and discography. Pretty good, and many tidbits from the people who worked with Sonny,Cher and both.

Finally! A Detailed Account of Cher's 1975 Solo Show! Warning: Not A Biography
By Olivia Stabler
I have been a Cher fan all my life and have read virtually any book written about her, while some give slightly different details that others don't, most of them rehash the same things about her life. Not so with this book! This book isn't a biography, though it quickly mentions her childhood and meeting Sonny, but it gave so many details I never knew before and focused mainly on Cher's life towards the end of her marriage/first variety show with Sonny and very detailed accounts of every episode in her solo series in 1975. It also gives lots of details on her divorce and lawsuits/custody battle with Sonny, her tumultuous relationship/marriage to Gregg Allman and how those around her felt about it, and all the behind the scenes details of the musical numbers and guest stars who appeared on her show. There is a very brief section at the end about her movies, tours, and albums after the end of her solo series and the start of her second show with Sonny in 1976.
What I loved about this book is that it's finally fresh and new information about her often ignored solo series. The author details all her songs, comedy sketches, guest stars (including details about the guest star's backgrounds and if they were difficult to work with such as Tatum O'Neal's brattyness and Redd Foxx's drug problems). The book features quotes/interviews with Cher I'd never read before regarding her life and series and interviews with the people who were closest to Cher during this time period, such as Bob Mackie (her designer), her producers, guest stars, and crew members from the show who gave excellent insight into Cher as a person, her life at the time, as well as the episodes, music, sketches, and inner workings of the show. It was also neat to read the book and go on Youtube and see many of the musical numbers/sketches the author wrote about since, unfortunately, her solo series was never released on DVD for her fans. The photos inside the book are gorgeous as is the front cover photo.
If you're looking for a Cher book with never before read information, this is definitely the best I've read and I've actually read it twice because I enjoyed it so much. A++++ book and highly recommended!

Wonderful....wonderful...new book on Cher
By Mrs G
Absolutely loved this book...Have been waiting for it to come out for ages. I am simply the biggest Cher fan. The author has interviewed so many people closely associated with Cher and it is a real intimate look at her....Gosh she was beautiful and the pictures in the book show that clearly. Some rare and very unusual photographs that I have never seen before. The writer, who wrote Cher's programme notes for her Vegas tour programmes, has done a terrific job documenting her life with loads of new interview material...In fact there's only 5 words for this book, A true labour of love...!
